Outreach is a Christian community service organization providing counseling, case management, youth development, older adult service, and community development. For 50 years, Outreach has changed the lives of thousands of individuals, children, youth, and families in DuPage County, IL, and we are seeking to hire a diverse staff of highly competent professional employees to pursue Outreach's mission to restore hope and provide opportunities for people to become all that God intends them to be.
 

Outreach is hiring a Part-time Junior High Teacher at Outreach York to support students in our after-school program academically and in life skills.

Part-time Regular Employment: 25 hrs/week. Academic Year Hours: Monday – Friday from 1:30pm – 6:30pm. Hours vary during school breaks and holiday weeks. Some evening or weekend hours are required for special events and other program needs. Summer opportunities may also be available.

Responsibilities:

  • The PT Junior High Teacher will collaborate with the Junior High Program Coordinator to build relationships with and facilitate learning for junior high students in the Villa Park community.
  • The PT Junior High Teacher will work with groups of students in academic instruction, community service, life skills instruction, and recreational activities.
  • The PT Junior High Teacher will facilitate behavior management and team building activities, transport students to and from the program, and maintain student records.
     

Requirement

Qualifications:  

  • BA in Education, Social Work, or a related field.     
  • Classroom or group experience with adolescents.
  • Experience with and sensitivity to the needs of students from low-income, high-risk families.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/ English) is strongly preferred.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • A commitment to Outreach's Statement of Mission & Faith.
