Division: | Outreach – Carol Stream Outreach - Carol Stream is a multi-purpose, neighborhood resource center serving a low-income, ethnically diverse neighborhood. Services include counseling, casework, mentoring, community development and after-school programs for children and youth. |
Job Responsibilities: | The Elementary Teacher is responsible for building relationships with students and facilitating learning in the summer day program. Duties include academic and life skills instruction, community service and recreational activities, teaching Christian education and facilitating group work with students involving experiential learning. The elementary teacher is also responsible for parent communication and maintaining Outreach’s standard of classroom behavior during program time. Class size averages between fifteen and twenty students. |

Requirement

equirements: | A passion for working with elementary age students; Bachelor’s degree in education, social work or a related field; previous classroom teaching or group experience with children; previous experience facilitating experiential or service learning strongly preferred; sensitivity to the needs of students from low-income, high-risk families and culturally diverse backgrounds. A current, valid IL driver’s license is required along with a good driving record and reliable transportation. A Commitment to Outreach Community Ministries’ Statement of Mission and Faith is required. |
Status: | Full-time Temporary Summer Employment Staff Training | June 12 -15, 2023 Program Dates | June 19- August 11, 2023 Program Schedule| Monday-Friday from 8:00am - 4:30 pm. |
Compensation: | The hourly rate for this position falls between $16 and $18.50 based on education, skills and experience. |
